Softball Head Coach
Coach Haack attended Hempstead High School and graduated from college with a BachelorÍs Degree in History and Physical Education. He coached for 18 years at the collegiate level.
He began his career at Sam Houston State, followed by two years at the University of Nebraska, 10 years at the University of Kansas, and concluded his college career at the University of Alabama. Coach Haack has been coaching softball at Katy High School since 1996 and plans on remaining at Katy until he retires!
Coach Haack says, “Now that I am reaching the end of my coaching career and as I look back, I know for sure that I picked the right profession. Where else do you get to be around kids every day and hopefully make an impact on them? Where else can you keep your competitive juices flowing when you get a little too old to participate? This job has given me a chance to be closer to my kids and watch them grow into adults and learn some great lessons from my friends and peers. I love my job and I love Katy High School.”
Coach Haack’s wife of 28 years, Leslie, is the Principal of George Ranch High School located in the Lamar Consolidated school district. His daughter Matte graduated from KHS in 2009. As an athlete at KHS, she ended her career as the district MVP in both softball and volleyball, a feat that has never happened in his 16 years as a coach. She currently plays softball at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. My son Brooks graduated from Katy in 2012. He played football and was also the district MVP for his sport. He currently plays football at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
