In the 8th inning of game 2, Junior A.J. Atkinson gave the Tigers a chance to take the series against Clear Springs. With the first pitch, Atkinson drilled a line drive to left field to get on base. Junior Sutton Hull followed-up with a sac bunt to move Atkinson around. Then Senior Graham Laxton stepped up to the plate. On a 2-0 count, Laxton nearly drove one over the left field wall. It hit, bounced to the ground, and that’s all that was needed. Atkinson made it home, secured the win, and a sealed a sweep for Katy, 4-3.
Game 1 was a bit of a dog fight, scoreless until the 6th inning with an RBI single by Andrew Hilton. From there the Tigers didn’t let off the gas. Another RBI with a line drive to left field by Senior Reese Ruderman, followed by two more RBI’s by Junior Sutton Hull, and Senior Cole Kaase in the 7th. Katy took game 1, 4-0.
This is the first time the Tigers have reached the Regional Final round since 2006. Katy plays Pearland to advance to the State tournament.
